We welcome you with open arms and open minds.

From the celebration of new life to the saying of Kaddish, Temple Beth David is your spiritual family for honoring life cycle events as well as the Jewish holy days. Rabbi Jesse, our members, and our staff assist in the preparation and celebration of Bar and Bat Mitzvahs, Confirmations, weddings, brit and baby namings, and sitting shiva. During the year, you will enjoy participating in our ritual services, including Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, Sukkot, Hanukkah, Purim, Passover and other events which honor and celebrate the history of our people.

Now, as always, Temple Beth David is your home.

About Our Rabbi

Rabbi Jesse Mordechai Charyn comes to us from Phoenix, AZ by way of Tennessee, Israel, California, and Pennsylvania. Rabbi Jesse, as he prefers to be called, is a dugma ishit (a Rabbi that leads through personal example). Rabbi Jesse served in the Israeli special forces from 2003-2006. While in Israel, Rabbi Jesse met his beshert, now wife, Shira. Together they have traveled the world spreading yiddishkeit and fostering friendships and infusing Jewish spirit along their travels. Rabbi Jesse is Aba to a shayna maideleh in October 2017 named Rayna Esther. Rayna can be found running up and down the bimah and helping her Aba sing. Rabbi Jesse believes in kehilah, community building and relational Judaism. Each Shabbat, Rabbi Jesse has a house filled with guests to join his family in fulfilling the mitzvah of rejoicing in the Shabbat with great company, food, and ritual. Please reach out to Rabbi Jesse to be scheduled for a home-cooked Shabbat dinner! Judaism is more than a religion. It encompasses culture, history, language, and spirituality. Rabbi Jesse is engaged in teaching across the many topics that Judaism embodies. Rabbi Jesse is a former Religious School director and chaplain at a level one trauma center and in a continuous care retirement community setting. Rabbi Jesse is gifted in matters of the soul and understands the importance of community during the entire lifetime. Rabbi Jesse also enjoys hiking, cooking, music, and anything Jewish. Look out for exciting events encompassing all of these passions and he looks forward to learning more about yours!
